Leaving it in the yard is not fine
This is the question I get more than any other, usually with the same reasoning behind it: it is organic, it is outside, it will break down on its own. I understand the logic, and the answer is still no. Three reasons are worth knowing.
It kills the grass, it does not feed it
Dog waste is not garden manure. A pile smothers the turf underneath it and leaves a dead spot that weeds reach before the grass can close back over.
The parasite window is weeks, not days
Roundworm eggs need a couple of weeks in the environment before they can infect anyone — and once they get there they last for months. Waste that leaves the yard this week never reaches that stage.
Rain carries it to the creek
A storm drain is a pipe to the nearest stream, not a treatment plant. What sits on the lawn washes off it, and pet waste is a real source of bacteria and excess nutrients in local water.
Four ways to keep your yard clean
Twice-Weekly Cleanup
Two visits every week so the yard stays clean all week long — the right fit for multiple dogs or a yard that is in constant use.
Starting at $19 per cleanup — varies by location, yard size & number of dogs.
Weekly Cleanup
Your yard cleaned on the same day every week, scheduled and reliable. Best value and the most popular plan.
Starting at $19 per cleanup — varies by location, yard size & number of dogs.
Bi-Weekly Cleanup
Every other week — more cost-effective than weekly, and the yard stays usable for kids and guests.
Starting at $19 per cleanup — varies by location, yard size & number of dogs.
One-Time Cleanup
A single catch-up visit, often before a party or when the week simply got away from you. The yard is cleared completely and nothing is scheduled after it.
Starting at $19 per cleanup — varies by location, yard size & number of dogs.
